teaching little ones about life
If you are like me, when your kids are older but still in diapers, you like having an emergency diaper and wipes just in case they have an accident or a random poop, but hate having to haul around a big ol' diaper bag everywhere. Having one in the car is one thing, but having to pack that thing around the store, through the library or when you go on a walk to the park, when you hardly ever need it,except for that one random time, gets to be a much bigger hassel than its worth.
Hence, my invention!
It's really just one of those cute-handy-little-plastic diaper wipe bags that you can find at Walmart or target or pretty much anywhere you can buy huggie diaper wipes. I took the initiative to tape some black duct tape to the back, to add an extra pocket for a diaper or two.
It's really quite slim and easy to carry! The perfect size for those quick trips!
Curious on how to make it?
All you need is some black duct tape (or any color you want to make it.)
Step 1: Cut or rip off 3 strips of duct tape that are the same length as the bag. Put them together, sticky-side up, so the entire back side of the bag is covered.
Step 2: Cut 3 more strips of tape that are 1/2" longer than the first on both sides
Step 3: Put the longer tape, sticky side down, on top of the first ones. Leaving 1/2" overlap on each side and on the bottom. (It's okay to have some leftover sticky hanging out up on the top. You will fold that part back over the rest after you fasten it.)
Step 4: Fasten the sides and bottoms to the bag and fold over the top so there's no sticky anywhere on the back.
Step 5: Reach your hand in the pocket and check for any sticky spots along the sides and the bottom of the pocket when you pull it out. If there is, just stick a little more tape to the sides from the inside so it is smooth inside and out.
Step 6: If you want a strap to go over the top; rip off two more pieces of tape (if you want a thinker strap) and tape them together. If you want a smaller strap, just rip off one strip and fold it in half lengthwise.
Step 7: Fasten the strap to the backside so it's the right length for you.
Step 8: Rip off a small piece of tape so it's the same length as the width of your strap, or a tad bit longer. Fasten that piece to the front of the bag so that the strap can fit snug under it without getting stuck.
TA-DA! You're done! Now just put a diaper or two in the pocket and pull the strap tight over it.
And it is still just as easy to refill with wipes!
This makes the perfect size emergency carry for your toddler or older baby to keep with you anywhere you need to go!

Some of my other ideas, if you are wanting to do something a little different:
*Instead of an outside pocket, try putting one on the inside. The diaper will still stay dry, but you will have a smaller bag altogether.
*For the fastener, try double sided velcro (or magnets), both on the strap and on the front side for a faster, easier closing.
